Worlds Away…

A few weeks have been since my last post as the world was calling my name for another adventure! This time it was to places far away, places filled with so much history it was hard to not reflect, learn and let everything sink in and at the end feel a little humbler and more reflective.

After the long hall flight all the way to London it was nice to feel at home in a city that I love! Jumping on the tube and walking down familiar streets was the perfect way to settle into the pace of exploring and the adventures that where to come! Visiting the magical worlds of Harrods and Liberty and exploring their diverse collections always makes me dream. Then off to explore the collections of the Tate Modern and the markets at Covent Garden that are always filled with so much treasure! Finishing off with a trip down the Thames to Greenwich to explore the architecture and grounds of a truly inspiring place!

As they say the early bird gets the worm and so it was off to Santorini at the break of dawn, hopping off the plane was like entering another world; blue skies, winding roads and endless views over the Mediterranean, the only thing I can say is wow! From wondering through hilltop villages, ancient ruins and iconic locations, to a boat trip along the rugged coastline to the base of a volcano and swimming in its warm mineral rich waters, it was all a little like walking into a dream!

From Santorini sunsets it was off to Athens to views of the Acropolis from bed. Nothing can quite prepare you for the monumentalness of the Acropolis, as it rises as if from another place with the Parthenon sitting on top, it feels like it has been there since the beginning of time. Exploring the architectural and sculptural wonders of the ancient world is something that can’t quite be explained, from the iconic friezes and statues with their breath taking details and history, to wondering around the grounds of some of the oldest iconic architecture there are truly no words to explain how humble and reflective you feel.

For the final leg of the journey it was off to Cyprus, staying right on the beach with views across the Mediterranean and waking up to the sounds of waves breaking it was truly magical! Mornings spent swimming in the warm waters and enjoying the pace of the seaside with nowhere to be. In the afternoons it was off to the hills on winding roads to explore ancient villages filled with cobbled streets and local crafts. Ending leisurely days with monumental, but relaxed dinners filled with traditional feasts with views across the water, The perfect way to end a trip filled with so much adventure!
